Adding Categories

Categories are a way of splitting up the products, when products are placed into a category they are grouped under a heading in the POS screen. This allows them to be easily found and selected.

  1. To add a category, navigate to the “Admin” section, select the “Items” menu in the bottom left, and then select the “POS Screen Categories” tab in the top left.

  1. Select the “Add” button at the top of the screen.

  1. Type in the Category ID and the name of the category, and press “OK” to create the category. For the ID we recommend starting at 001 and increasing it by 1 for each new category, so the first category will have the ID 001, the second will have 002, the third 003 and so on.
  1. You can further customise a category when or after creating it, the description of each option is as follows:

  1. Display Order – This will change the order of the categories shown in the POS section. 1 will appear in the top left corner, and 2 will appear next to it.
  2. Max. No. of Products – This allows you to limit the number of products in the category. Once the limit is reached no more can be added.

  1. Style – These settings allow you to change the font and colour of the category button. You can choose the colours using the drop-down boxes.

  1. Product Parameters – This can be used to change a setting for all the products in a category. For example, if “Print Label” is ticked then that will apply to all products in the category.
